As you may have read, here or elsewhere, Kia has made it clear it wants to breach the realm of luxury cars and become a reputable competitor in that space by 2017. While the recent release of the 2014 Kia Cadenza premium sedan was an important first step, the announcement of the Kia K900 is truly groundbreaking for the automaker.
Expected to be released in limited quantities in early 2014, the Kia K900 is projected to enter the 2014 Kia lineup at a price point between $50,000 and $70,000, likely depending on trim levels, add-ons, and engine options. The Kia K900 will mark the first time Kia has offered a rear-wheel drive sedan in the United States and is expected to be similar to the Kia K9 and Kia Quoris, which are sold in overseas markets.
Kia officials described the Kia K900 as a 7 series value for a 5 series price, as the upcoming flagship luxury sedan is expected to pack a V6 engine that yields approximately 290 horsepower or a V8 capable of generating as much as 420 horsepower.
While more solid information and details likely will be coming available in the coming months, the world will be introduced to the 2014 Kia K900 in an ad during the NFL Super Bowl in February.
Although the Kia K900 may be the first step into true luxury for Kia in the United States, the entire Kia lineup has been revamped over the past several years to offer upscale technology and elite performance for exceptional values. While the Cadenza is the most obvious of the group, the Kia Forte and Sorento both have received upscale touches and come with more available amenities than ever before.
